A response to WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes’ recent criticism of rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has been made by a former NBA player, drawing parallels to his own experience in the league.
In her latest attack on Clark, Swoopes alleges that her teammates on the Indiana Fever are unhappy due to the negative attention from fans.
“There’s a lot of other things going on that other players are not happy about,” Swoopes stated on Gil’s Arena. “So there are significant players on the Indiana Fever team who are considering leaving.”
Former NBA player Sam Dekker chimed in on X, using his time with James Harden on the Rockets as a counterpoint to Swoopes’ claims.

Being on the Rockets with Prime Harden was the best thing ever. We were on National TV all the time, won many important games, and he made it easy for players like me. I don’t believe the team is unhappy. https://t.co/IthvMtW6Up

“Being on the Rockets with Prime Harden was amazing. We were always on National TV, won crucial games, and he made the game simple for us. I don’t think for a moment that the team dislikes it.”
Swoopes continued her criticism of Clark on the same podcast, suggesting that the rookie has not dominated the league.
“I must say, Caitlin’s progress in such a short time is impressive,” she acknowledged Clark’s improvement post-All-Star break. “… I still don’t think she’s dominating, but she has grown as a player from the first half of the season.”
As the final WNBA season game approaches, here are some of Clark’s achievements so far:
— Leads the league in APG— Leads the league in 3P— Rookie leader in PPG— Rookie leader in FGM— Rookie leader in APG— Rookie leader in SPG— 3rd in RPG among rookies— 4th in BPG among rookies— First rookie with a triple-double— Broke single-season AST record— Broke single-game AST record— Most points by a rookie ever— Most assists by a rookie ever— Most 3P by a rookie ever— Most All-Star Game fan votes ever
