The USTA has announced the recipients of the women’s singles main draw wildcards for the 2024 US Open. The notable players include four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, as well as American players McCartney Kessler, Amanda Anisimova, Alexa Noel, and Iva Jovic. France’s Chloe Paquet and Australia’s Taylah Preston have also received wildcards through reciprocal agreements.
Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka, known for her US Open victories in 2018 and 2020, recently returned to the court after giving birth. She is still adjusting postpartum and admits that playing tennis feels different now.
Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, is back on the court after a nine-month break due to a back injury. Amanda Anisimova, the Wildcard Challenge winner, has re-entered the Top 50 after overcoming mental health challenges. McCartney Kessler earned a wildcard after reaching career-high rankings.
Alexa Noel, the NCAA singles title winner, and Iva Jovic, the USTA Girls’ 18s National Championships winner, have also secured spots. Chloe Paquet and Taylah Preston received wildcards through reciprocal agreements.
The US Open qualifying tournament will feature promising American players like Clervie Ngounoue, Liv Hovde, Tyra Grant, Akasha Urhobo, Sophie Chang, Mary Stoiana, Kristina Penickova, Julieta Pareja, and Valerie Glozman.
