Gabriela Fundora (16-0, 8 KOs, 1 NC) put in another dominant performance to defeat Marilyn Badillo (19-1-1, 3 KOs) via seventh round technical knockout.

The official time of stoppage was 1:44. With the victory, Fundora remains the undisputed flyweight world champion. She achieved that status in November last year with a stoppage of Gabriela Alaniz.

The fight headlined a Golden Boy Promotions card – in association with Zanfer Boxing – at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, CA. Fight fans around the world could catch the action live on DAZN.

Gabriela Fundora vs. Marilyn Badillo Fight Recap

From the beginning, Fundora was able to keep her opponent at bay while landing her punches. Despite Badillo’s best efforts, she struggled to get within striking reach and was otherwise unable to land much from a distance due to having the shorter reach. As a result, the undisputed champion was throwing and landing significantly more punches.

As the fight entered the middle rounds, Fundora picked up the tempo. After pressing forward and sending Badillo back to the ropes, Fundora landed a straight left to the head that caused the challenger to take a knee. Though Badillo got up, she appeared to have had enough and the fight was waved off by the referee.

Post-fight Interview

Gabriela Fundora

“I think I’m maturing,” said Fundora. “I knew the stoppage was gonna come. It’s just how I wanted to place it and I think with this one it was more of a relaxed type kinda tempo.”

“I think it’s just the hard work that we put in the gym…I’m 23 and I think it’s just with age comes more maturity.”
