Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis officially announced his upcoming fight with Lamont Roach on March 1 during a press conference earlier this evening. Roach expressed his excitement and determination for the opportunity to face Tank in the ring.
“This is a great opportunity for me, and I am ready to conquer it,” Roach stated confidently. “I believe Tank took this fight to silence the critics and prove himself against a fierce opponent like me. I’m here to show everyone what happens when two fighters give it their all, and I plan on coming out on top.”
Tank then had his chance to address the audience.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this event, and I am looking forward to a great fight on March 1st. Right now, I am focused on preparing for the match, and I believe it will be an exciting showdown. We have three months to train, and I am confident it will be a memorable fight,” Tank shared.
Following their statements, both fighters engaged in a Q&A session to discuss the fight further. Here are some highlights from the session.
Tank talked about why the fight with Lomachenko fell through and why Roach was the next logical opponent.
“Lamont has skills. Despite being in a lighter weight class, he is a talented fighter who has remained relevant in the sport. He is a tough opponent and a worthy challenge for me,” Tank explained.
Roach discussed how his fighting style differs from Tank’s previous opponents.
“I bring a lot to the table in terms of skills. I can adapt to different styles, and I am tough, smart, and versatile. I will do whatever it takes to come out victorious in this fight,” Roach stated.
Tank shared his plans for his boxing career after this upcoming fight.
“After next year, I will be retiring from the sport,” Tank revealed.
