Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to miss multiple games after suffering a groin strain during Monday night’s 118-106 loss to the Cavaliers.

The injury immediately shifted the momentum of the matchup and the state of Milwaukee’s early-season push.

Bucks head coach Doc Rivers delivered the first update on Tuesday, telling ESPN Milwaukee that his star would be out for “probably two weeks.” Also adding, “I don’t know what grade it is, but I know it’s not a bad one, so that’s good news for us … Probably two weeks he’ll be out — hopefully less.”

Antetokounmpo went down late in the second quarter at Rocket Arena while trying to make a move on Jarrett Allen in the post.

After missing the layup, he landed awkwardly and immediately reached toward his groin. Though he briefly stayed in the game, he wasn’t moving naturally. As soon as the whistle blew, he headed straight to the locker room. He did not return and was later ruled out at halftime with a left groin strain.

Before exiting, Giannis had 14 points and 5 rebounds, leading the Bucks in the first half. He entered the game averaging 32.6 points per night, second in the league behind Luka Doncic, along with 11.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists.

The loss marked Milwaukee’s second straight defeat and dropped the team to 8-7 on the season.

Ryan Rollins led the Bucks with 24 points, hitting 5 of 10 from deep, while Myles Turner added 15 points and 7 boards.

Cleveland rode Donovan Mitchell’s 37 points and 7 assists to push their record to 10-5.
