Former Arsenal, West Ham United and Bristol City winger Lisa Evans has re-joined SWPL 1 club Glasgow City on a free transfer.
Glasgow City announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Evans re-joins Glasgow City after leaving former club Bristol City at the end of last season. The player returns to the club where she started her senior career back in 2008.
The 32-year-old’s move north of the border ends a seven-year spell playing her football in England. Evans joined Arsenal in 2017 before going to West Ham United on loan in summer 2021. The Hammers made the deal permanent a year later. Evans joined Bristol City for the second half of the 2023/2024 season but she was unable to help The Robins remain in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Evans has made 118 appearances in English league competition in the last seven years and she will now be hoping to make an impact back at Glasgow City.
After securing her Petershill Park return, Evans said “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back, it’s been a while and I know things have changed massively with the club but I’m really excited to be back.
“Having started my journey in professional football with Glasgow City it was always something that I wanted to do, to come back and be part of it all again. I wanted to give back to the club everything that they have done for me.
“I’ve had a great playing career in Germany and down south and I felt like I owed it in some way to come back and to help Glasgow City get success again.”
Evans joins a Glasgow City side that ended the 2023/2024 season in third position in the SWPL 1 table.
