INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has recognized a total of 582 student-athletes for earning the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award, marking a new record for the conference. This achievement was announced on Wednesday, with the Bearcats boasting 28 honorees from the 23-24 school year.
The award, named after Brother James Gaffney FSC, former President of Lewis University and GLVC Council of Presidents Chair, is given annually to student-athletes participating in GLVC-sponsored sports who maintain a flawless 4.0 grade point average throughout the academic year. The recipients consist of full-time GLVC members and eligible associate league members.
The Bearcat honorees were distributed by sport as follows: baseball (2), men’s basketball (1), women’s basketball (1), women’s cross country/ track and field (2), football (1), men’s golf (1), women’s golf (1), women’s lacrosse (1), men’s soccer (1), women’s soccer (6), softball (2), men’s swim and dive (2), women’s swim and dive (3), men’s track and field (1), women’s volleyball (2), men’s wrestling (1).
