SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga fifth-year senior Yvonne Ejim was one of 25 players named to the 2025 Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award after winning the award in 2024.
Ejim won the award after averaging 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game last season. She has also previously won the WCC Offensive and defensive player of the year awards.
The award is given to the best player from a school in a mid-major conference, which is one of the conferences outside of the five traditional power conferences and the Big East.
This will be Ejim’s fifth year with the program and another opportunity for her to improve on her stellar performance from last season. In each of her first four seasons, Ejim has improved her scoring average for the year by at least three points per season, with her largest jump coming from her sophomore year (10.1 PPG) to her junior year (16.7 PPG).
The Bulldogs enter this season following a Sweet 16 appearance and looking to do it again. They start their season November 5 against Montana at home in the McCarthy Athletic Center.
Ejim also played on the Canada Senior Women’s National Team in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, her first time competing for team USA.
The watchlist included players from 22 teams and 15 different conferences. Fairfield, Norfolk State, and South Dakota State each had two players on the watchlist.
