Guenther Steiner, former boss of Haas F1, predicts that Valtteri Bottas will retain his drive at Sauber for the upcoming season.
There are still three teams yet to officially confirm their driver line-up for next year.
Mercedes is likely to choose Andrea Kimi Antonelli to replace Lewis Hamilton.
This leaves two open spots at Sauber and Alpine.
With Carlos Sainz moving to Williams, both teams have limited options.
Bottas may continue at Sauber, especially since there are no clear alternatives to partner Nico Hulkenberg.
Steiner believes that Bottas is the top choice available.
“I believe Kimi Antonelli will go to Mercedes,” Steiner said on The Red Flags podcast.
“Who will Sauber choose? I think they will stick with Bottas, I suppose. As Alpine and Audi, they need to secure the best available driver.
“Bottas has a strong track record of winning races in his career. Currently, he is unable to showcase his abilities due to the car’s limitations, but he has always been a skilled driver. Both [Hulkenberg and Bottas] are talented racers.”
Steiner is uncertain about Alpine’s choice, with rumors suggesting Jack Doohan is the frontrunner.
“During an interview with Flavio on the grid for RTL, my colleague questioned Flavio,” he mentioned.
“‘Everyone is in contention for that seat,’ was his response. ‘Everyone.’ That’s what Flavio told me, so I will refrain from offering my opinion.
“K-Mag could be considered. They have Jack Doohan and Mick Schumacher as options.
“[Don’t mention Schumacher] because I’ll receive backlash and won’t be able to sleep.”
