The Chicago Sky did an excellent job of adding valuable pieces in this year’s WNBA Draft. Between AjÅ¡a Sivka, a forward from Slovenia, and college stars like TCU’s Hailey Van Lith and Notre Dame’s Maddy Westbeld, the franchise has several young assets to be excited about.
General manager Jeff Pagliocca has made incredible moves over the last two years, so these players will join a roster that already boasts talents like Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Ariel Atkins.

With new head coach Tyler Marsh replacing Teresa Weatherspoon, all of these moving pieces will need to fit together nicely as well if the Sky want to make a playoff run.

Van Lith and Reese already have experience playing together, as they shared the court at LSU during the 2023-24 season. When Van Lith was introduced to the local media on Thursday, she was asked about reuniting with her former teammate. She responded with a bold prediction about how the season will go.
“I’m really, really looking forward to the chance to play with Angel in this new system and see how it goes,” Van Lith said. “I think that we’ll be even more impactful than we were when we played with each other in college.”
Despite not making it to the National Championship, the Tigers enjoyed plenty of success with these two on the roster. Under head coach Kim Mulkey, this duo won 31 games and made it to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.

Now, at the professional level, these two will have the chance to compete for a title once again. Their trek to the WNBA Finals will begin on May 17 when they open their season against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, who made the playoffs a season ago.
