Henry Cejudo is supporting UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones in a potential fight against Tom Aspinall.
UFC CEO Dana White guaranteed that Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) will face interim champ Aspinall (15-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) in a title-unification bout in 2025. Jones secured his first title defense with a third-round TKO of Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, while Aspinall defended his interim title with a first-round TKO of Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.
If the two end up meeting in the Octagon, Cejudo believes Jones’ fight IQ will give him the edge over Aspinall.
“In the heavyweight division, I’m going with Jon Jones,” Cejudo said on his “Pound 4 Pound” podcast with Kamaru Usman. “I saw a bit of Tom Aspinall yesterday. He has great lateral movements. But Jones is just too intelligent.
“Jones just needs to pressure him, control the center, not react, exploit his wrestling. I think it will be an easy win. He’s still going to make that $30 million.”
UFC commentator and popular podcaster Joe Rogan mentioned that he heard Jones is demanding $30 million to fight Aspinall, but later corrected himself after Dana White refuted the rumor.
However, Jones is insisting on a substantial payout to face Aspinall, emphasizing that he doesn’t see Aspinall as a matchup that adds value to his legacy.
