CS2 Asian Champions League format

We’re a long way away from knowing the exact teams competing in the CS2 Asian Champions League, but we do have a good idea about the format, thanks to a new video on Instagram about the premier Counter-Strike tournament. The event is divided into the following four stages:

Open Qualifiers (China): February 15th – April 13th
Closed Qualifiers (Asia): April 17th – 27th
Playoffs: May 6th – 11th
Asian Champions League Grand Final: May 16th

The China Open Qualifers will be divided into a Rookie Stage (February 15th – March 30th) and a Rookie Advanced Stage (April 10th – 13th), with teams duking it out for just four spots in the eventual Closed Qualifiers. Four teams will qualify from the Closed Qualifiers to the Playoffs, where they’ll meet the directly invited top four teams in Asia (via VRS invites). Then, it’s a double-elimination bracket all the way to the Grand Final.

In the Grand Final, the stakes are high. Of the total $300,000 prize pool for the tournament, the winner can expect to receive $100,000, with the cash trickling down beyond that. It’s always good to see more opportunities for CS2 tournaments outside of EU. The player pool in regions like Asia is massive, so it’s hard not to think that there’s tons of untapped potential right now. Events like this bring more eyes to Asian CS, and that’s a great thing.
