Christian Horner has expressed his belief that Liam Lawson’s performances in 2024 were superior to those of his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. This led to Lawson being chosen as the replacement for Sergio Perez at Red Bull, despite Tsunoda’s longer tenure with the team and greater F1 experience. Horner described the decision to go with the 22-year-old New Zealander as a “very tight” one.
