Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues the series’ penchant for realism, which is why its map size is often brought up in discussions. Its predecessor’s sprawling forests and detailed medieval cities stretched across a reasonably large space, balancing peaceful moments with intense encounters and a host of quests to pursue.
Although most people would expect the sequel to be even more expansive, a steady onset of open-world fatigue in the past couple of years leads some of us to wonder just how big KC:D2’s map size will be. While more playspace is always welcome, having it at the detriment of meaningful quests and attention to detail could work against the game.
How Big is the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Map?
Based on what developer Warhorse Studios has shared so far, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s map is definitely bigger than the original’s, although it’s not entirely clear by how much.
In an interview with IGN dating from April 2024, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, spokesperson for the studio, noted that “we have two maps now, each approximately the size of the first game.”
About a month later, speaking at 2024’s Game Access Conference in Brno, Czech Republic, Executive Producer Martin Klima shared a set of interesting details while comparing the two Kingdom Come: Deliverance games.
Their playable areas were also mentioned, with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s reportedly offering 125% of the original’s play space.
That is a notable difference and, while we cannot fully confirm just how big Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s map size is without traveling across its two large open areas and cities ourselves, it’s fairly safe to assume that the sequel will give us more ground to cover and activities to take part in.
If the team manages to pour as much love into the sequel’s areas, their larger size might as well help create yet another memorable experience.
We’ll all get to see just how big the Kingdom Come: Deliverance II map is when the game launches on February 4.
