As DJ Burns emerges from a Marriott in downtown Stamford, CT, and steps into the cool morning stillness at 6:15 am on Tuesday, May 7, he’s already an hour into his daily routine.
He has already consumed an oatmeal, dairy-free Greek yogurt smoothie with frozen fruit, unsweetened almond milk, and agave nectar. His t-shirt and short combinations, along with other essentials, are neatly packed in his backpack. With Lil Wayne’s music playing in his headphones, he gets into a Toyota Highlander to start his day’s work.
At 7 am, he begins his first workout at the OverDrive Elite facility, focusing on strength and conditioning drills. Throughout the day, he stays hydrated and consumes plenty of water.
After a productive workout session, he enjoys a breakfast bowl with egg whites, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, and rye toast. Then, he heads towards lower Manhattan for the rest of his day.
Ranked third coming out of South Carolina, Burns had a successful college career and impressed many with his skills on the basketball court.
His journey to success was shaped by his family’s values and support. His love for basketball started at an early age, nurtured by his parents who encouraged his passion for the sport.
