The First Descendant has a variety of mission types to keep things interesting. Vulgus Strategic Outposts are a crucial mission in The First Descendant that you can either infiltrate or clear, and they can be farmed quickly. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
How to clear Outposts in The First Descendant
Outposts or Vulgus Strategic Outposts are zone recon missions in The First Descendant that you can unlock after progressing through the main story. Each zone has one Outpost, and if you are just starting out, the first Outpost is in Kingston just north of The Fallen Theater.
Simply walk in and start shooting enemies to begin the mission. Your objective is to destroy three power units at the Outpost (marked with letters A, B, and C). While you can rush in, it’s recommended to deal with the weaker enemies first as they can overwhelm you, especially on hard difficulty. An effective way to clear all enemies without shooting them is to use Bunny.
After destroying the power units, an elite enemy with a yellow health bar will spawn. Defeat the elite, and the mission will be completed. This entire process takes less than two minutes, and the outpost has a one-minute cooldown, making it easy to farm quickly.
How to infiltrate Outposts in The First Descendant
To infiltrate an Outpost, you must disable the power units without being detected by the enemy. Since Outposts are compact and busy, the best way to infiltrate is by using Sharen and her Active Camouflage skill.
Turn invisible, interact with all three units without alerting anyone, and then engage in combat. You can hide while disabling power units to reset your Active Camouflage as long as you remain undetected. The status at the top of the screen will indicate if you’ve been spotted by the enemy.
It’s recommended to have a Sharen build specifically for Outpost infiltrations. Focus on maximizing Skill Duration and reducing Skill Cooldown to eliminate all power units efficiently.
All rewards for clearing an Outpost in The First Descendant
Every Outpost in The First Descendant offers unique rewards, including Amorphous Materials needed to research Ultimate weapons and new Descendants. In hard mode, you also receive more monster drops, making Outpost farms like Valby Run highly effective.
You can view the rewards by hovering over the mission marker on the map. Some rewards, including valuable late-game Amorphous Materials, are only obtainable as Infiltration Rewards. This means that to acquire them, you must successfully infiltrate the outpost with Sharen.
