Tyson Fury mentioned that he feels more prepared for the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday compared to their first fight on May 18. He admitted that if he had been wiser, he might have delayed the first fight a bit.
Fury revealed, “This time it’s been a lot easier. I’ve done lots of sparring and been able to train properly, where before it’s no secret, I didn’t do a lot of sparring, hence I had a massive bounty on me.”
He added, “Thinking sensibly, maybe I wouldn’t have—I would have pushed it back a bit and cost myself $10 million, but yeah, it doesn’t really matter. We’re here now and I’m going to do the job.”
Fury had postponed the first fight due to a cut suffered in training camp, but eventually proceeded with the bout within the required timeframe.
Fury (34-1-1, 24 KO) also acknowledged the possibility of a trilogy bout in 2025 proposed by Turki Alalshikh, but he believes that Usyk (22-0, 14 KO) may not be interested in a third fight after the outcome of this weekend’s match.
He commented, “There’s going to be a lot of pain and I don’t think he’s going to want a trilogy, but if he does, good luck to him.”
