Ian Machado Garry is backing Joaquin Buckley to defeat Colby Covington at UFC Tampa.
Garry had been challenging Covington for a fight, but it did not materialize. Instead, Garry was set to headline UFC Tampa against Buckley. However, the Irishman was rescheduled to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 a week earlier, allowing Covington to step in on short notice to face Buckley.
Despite initially wanting to fight Colby Covington at UFC Tampa, Ian Machado Garry is now hoping Joaquin Buckley will knock out ‘Chaos’ for avoiding a fight with him.
“This just proves he’s been avoiding me for months,” Machado Garry stated on Instagram. “I agreed to fight the toughest guy in the division and then this guy appears out of nowhere. He is afraid, he’s a coward, and I will confront him one day. Joaquin Buckley, I am fully supporting you. Go out and end his night. Please and thank you. Do it for me because he can’t do it against me.”
Although Ian Machado Garry was set to face Joaquin Buckley, he now hopes that Buckley will knock out Colby Covington. If Buckley does secure a KO victory, it may decrease the chances of Garry facing Covington in the future, but it seems he is unconcerned as he is focused on seeing ‘Chaos’ suffer a defeat in spectacular fashion.
