Illini Suffer 64-59 Loss at Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – In a game that saw four ties and eight lead changes, Fighting Illini women’s basketball would ultimately suffer its first loss of the season, a 64-59 setback at Oregon State. Three Illini finished scoring in double figures, led by Berry Wallace’s third straight 20-point game (24). Cearah Parchment scored 14 and Gretchen Dolan tallied 11 points.

Illinois connected on a season-high eight 3-pointers (8-for-19), with four coming off the hot hand of Parchment en route to her career-high scoring output. Wallace registered a pair of treys as well.

The Fighting Illini outrebounded OSU 31-30, including a 14-5 advantage on the offensive glass. Illinois turned those boards into nine second-chance points opposed to Oregon State’s two.

The Orange and Blue are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 18, as Murray State comes to town for an 11 a.m. CT Field Trip Day matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Oregon State won the tip, the Beavers struck first, knocking down a 3-pointer on their opening possession. Berry Wallace answered for the Illini with a jumper from the elbow. OSU connected on their second long ball on the next trip down the court before Cearah Parchment scored the next five points for a 7-6 Illini lead. The squads worked out to a 12-12 tie before Illinois posted a 6-2 run that included five points from Aaliyah Guyton. The Orange and Blue led 18-16 at the end of the opening frame that saw five lead changes.

Out of the quarter break, Illinois pushed to a six-point lead at 22-16 before the Beavers battled back. OSU used an 11-0 run through the midst of the quarter to take a lead as large as five before the Illini closed the half on a 4-0 run to pull within one.

OSU struck for a layup out of halftime before the Fighting Illini went on a 6-0 run to take a 34-31 lead. Oregon State responded with an 8-0 run taking a 39-34 lead. Illinois battled back to knot it at 41-41 but the Beavers tacked on a pair of free throws for a 43-41 lead after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Oregon State went on a pair of 6-0 runs, pushing its lead to as many as nine before the Illini scored five points in the final 16 seconds en route to the final score of 64-59 in favor of the hosts.

Player Notes:


Berry Wallace notched her third straight 20-point game, finishing with 24 points on 8-for-16 shooting.


Wallace went 2-for-4 from deep and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Finished with 6 rebounds, including 5 on the offensive glass, and 2 steals.
Wallace scored 20 second-half points while playing the full 20 minutes.

Gretchen Dolan recorded 11 points while grabbing 5 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists, and snatching two steals.

Scored double-digits all three games this season.


Destiny Jackson tallied 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists against just one turnover.

Connected on her first 3-pointer as an Illini with 6:36 remaining in the fourth quarter


Cearah Parchment finished with a career-high 14 points to go along with 6 rebounds, and one 1 assist.

Connected on 4-of-6 3-pointers and went 5-for-10 from the field


Aaliyah Guyton tallied her first points as an Illini, registered 5 points to go along with 2 assists, 1 rebound, and zero turnovers.

Connected on her lone 3-pointer attempt with 1:30 remaining in the first.
Guyton, along with Maddie Webber, was the first Illini off the bench, checking in with 5:42 left in the first quarter.

Team Notes:


Oregon State won the opening tip and knocked down a 3-pointer on its opening possession. The sides traded baskets on the first four possessions.
Illinois pushed ahead to a 24-18 lead before Oregon State went on an 11-0 run to take a 29-24 lead.
The Illini closed the gap by holding the Beavers scoreless the final 4:02 of the opening half, pulling within one at 28-29.
Illinois went on a 6-0 run over a 1:03 span early in the third quarter pushing to a 34-31 advantage.
Illinois connected on a season-high eight 3-pointers.

Parchment led the way with 4, followed by Wallace’s 2, and one each by Jackson and Guyton.


Three Illini scored in double digits (Berry Wallace [24], Cearah Parchment [14], and Gretchen Dolan [11].
Illinois shot better from 3-point range (42%) than overall (34%) for the first time since Feb. 23, 2025 at UCLA.
The Illini racked up 14 offensive rebounds to Oregon State’s 5, outscoring the Beavers 9-2 in second-chance points.
In all, the game saw four ties and eight lead changes.
