Damon Jackson is seeking more “Action.”
After retiring at UFC 309 last month in New York, the experienced lightweight fighter is not ready to hang up his gloves just yet. He attributes his impulsive decision to retire to the emotional and frustrating submission loss to Jim Miller in New York.
“I’m not finished, really,” Jackson explained to MMA Junkie Radio. “Despite mentally checking out that night, I have been training as usual and am fully committed. I just need to figure out my next steps and I’m definitely not done fighting.”
At 36 years old, Jackson has faced defeat in four of his last five matches.
Jackson emphasized that he is only interested in fighting for the UFC moving forward and has no intentions of exploring other contracts. He informed Sean Shelby that he intends to take a break and likely won’t return to fighting until the summer.
To make a comeback in the UFC, Jackson (23-8-1, 1 NC) must rejoin the promotion’s drug testing program under Combat Sports Anti-Doping and produce six months of negative results before stepping back into the Octagon.
Jackson made his UFC debut at UFC 177 in the summer of 2014.
