Indiana Fever win first WNBA championship

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – On Oct. 21, 2012, the Indiana Fever won their first WNBA championship.

They were up against the Minnesota Lynx, a team with a 27-7 record at the time that was on a 10-game win streak.

After Games 1 and 2 of the finals in Minnesota, the teams were tied. Game 3 on Oct. 19 brought the Fever back home to play at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, now Gainbridge Fieldhouse. They won, putting them just one game away from the title.

On Oct. 21, Game 4, four Fever players scored double figures, which secured them the championship 87-78, three games to one, in front of their home crowd in Indianapolis.
