Time has healed what was deemed as Irene Aldana’s ‘worst cut in UFC history’.
The UFC women’s bantamweight division has been exceptionally competitive recently, with Aldana playing a significant role in that. Having delivered back-to-back fight-of-the-night contenders, including one that was named Jon Anik’s 2023 fight of the year, the 36-year-old fighter has been a thrilling presence inside the Octagon.
Despite facing defeat at the Las Vegas Sphere, Irene Aldana displayed her true Mexican fighting spirit in her last fight. Despite suffering one of the worst cuts in combat sports history due to an accidental clash of heads, Aldana continued to press forward and entertain the fans.
Now, one week after the severe facial laceration she sustained at UFC 306, Aldana appears to be recovering well.
Recent photos on social media show the Mexican fighter at different stages of her recovery, showcasing the progress she has made since the fight night.
Unfortunately, Irene Aldana and her opponent Norma Dumont did not receive a bonus for their memorable bout.
That honor was awarded to Esteban Ribovics and Daniel Zellhuber. These two lightweights engaged in an intense battle at The Sphere, exchanging heavy shots throughout their 15-minute contest.
