LOUISVILLE – The Notre Dame women’s tennis team picked up its first Atlantic Coast Conference win in its first opportunity, travelling to Louisville on Friday evening and leaving with the 4-1 victory. After dropping the doubles point, the Fighting Irish rallied with four consecutive singles victories on courts one, two, five and six.
On court one, No. 50 Bianca Molnar bested Alice Otis, 6-4, 6-4. The next court over, Akari Matsuno gutted out a 7-6(5), 6-3, win vs. Germany Davis. Matsuno continues to deliver during her senior season, winning her 10th straight.
The spotlight of the night certainly belonged to Rylie Hanford and Gabriella Rawles. In doubles, the pair won their match 6-4 on court three vs. Davis/Gallegos. In singles, they each won their respective matches in straight sets to close out the road victory. Hanford defeated Bert Miret, 6-3, 7-6(4), while Rawles bested Rebekkah Gaines, 6-1, 6-2.
