The transfer portal closed on Tuesday, April 22 and the 2025-26 roster for IU basketball is nearing completion.

Here’s the latest on the roster for the 2025-26 season as of Friday morning. We’ll publish updates throughout the spring until the roster is complete.

Transfer portal departures

Seven scholarship players from the 2024-25 roster entered the transfer portal in March and one entered the portal in April. Those departures, along with several graduating players, left new coach Darian DeVries with no returnees.

The seven players from the 2024-25 roster who entered in March: Gabe Cupps, Malik Reneau, Mackenzie Mgbako, Jakai Newton, Myles Rice, Kanaan Carlyle and Bryson Tucker.

Six of the eight players who entered the portal have chosen new schools. Cupps was the first off the board to Ohio State, followed by Reneau to Miami (FL), Newton to Georgia State, Rice to Maryland, Mgbako to Texas A&M and Tucker to Washington.

Carlyle and James remain in the portal as of the morning of Friday, May 2.

Status to be determined

Luke Goode’s status for the 2025-26 season is unresolved. Goode has requested a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA to grant him an additional year of eligibility.

The Fort Wayne native missed the first 23 games of the 2022-23 season, his second year at Illinois, with an injury. Goode returned for the season’s final 10 games, exhausting his eligibility for the season by NCAA rule. Goode said last month, after IU’s Big Ten tournament loss to Oregon, that he hopes the NCAA will consider his request for an additional season. There has yet to be an update on his waiver request.

“I know it’s not the typical situation where people would ask for waivers, but we got some people working on it and I’d be very fortunate to play another year,” he told reporters following IU’s loss to Oregon in the Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis. “I think with everything now going on in college basketball and all the extra years they’re giving to JUCO kids and non-DI kids and all that, I think only playing 10 games in a season will be more than justifiable.”

Incoming freshmen

Indiana had two freshmen committed when DeVries accepted the job on March 18: Trent Sisley and Harun Zrno.

Zrno, a Bosnian wing, chose to reopen his recruitment on March 19 and recently committed to Rutgers.

Sisley, who played his final high school season at Montverde Academy and is a native of Lincoln City, Indiana, reaffirmed his commitment to the program shortly after DeVries was hired.

Incoming players from the transfer portal

Indiana has 10 players committed from the transfer portal. As of the morning of May 2, Indiana has not announced any roster additions for next season other than Sisley, who signed last November.

Tucker DeVries, the son of Darian DeVries, is expected to be a starter for the Hoosiers next winter and has one season of eligibility left. He was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference player of the year at Drake.

Conor Enright, who played for DeVries at Drake for two seasons, is transferring to Indiana from DePaul. The 6-foot-2 point guard announced his commitment to the Hoosiers on April 2. Enright has one season of eligibility remaining.

Forward Reed Bailey, a first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection last season at Davidson, committed to Indiana on April 6. Bailey averaged 18.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Wildcats last season and has one season of eligibility left.

Indiana won a pivotal recruiting battle against Kentucky, Auburn, Ole Miss and several other schools for Lamar Wilkerson. The sharpshooter from Sam Houston committed to the Hoosiers on April 15. Wilkerson, who averaged 20.5 points per game last season and shot 44.5 percent on 3s, has one season of eligibility remaining.

North Florida guard Jasai Miles announced his commitment to Indiana on April 16. An All-ASUN third team selection last season, Miles averaged 15.4 points per game for the Ospreys and has two seasons of eligibility left.

Tayton Conerway, the Sun Belt player of the year last season at Troy, committed to the Hoosiers on April 16. Conerway was third in the country in steals with 98 and averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 30.3 minutes per game for an NCAA tournament team. He is expected to have one season of eligibility.

Jason Drake committed to Indiana on Tuesday, April 22. The 6-foot-2 guard, originally from Oak Park, Michigan, averaged 11 points, 3.1 assists and three rebounds last season at Drexel. He’s a career 38.7 percent 3-point shooter.

Elon transfer Nick Dorn committed to IU on Thursday, April 24. Dorn was on campus earlier this week for a visit and also reportedly visited North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Maryland. A career 35.6 percent 3-point shooter, the 6-foot-7 Dorn averaged 15.2 points and 3.8 rebounds last season for the Phoenix.

Florida transfer Sam Alexis, who played his first two seasons at Chattanooga, also committed on Thursday, April 24. The 6-foot-8 forward appeared in 24 games last season for the national champion Gators and averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game.

North Florida transfer forward Josh Harris committed to Indiana on Tuesday, April 29. Harris averaged 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last season for the Ospreys. He was named to the ASUN All-freshman team.
