Izoje Repeats as ACC Rookie of the Week

Uche Izoje has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week, the conference announced it Monday afternoon. Izoje becomes the first Syracuse rookie to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks since Kamilla Cardoso in 2021. 

Izoje averaged a double-double over a 2-0 week for the Orange, posting 10.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.9% from the field. The freshman center recorded a double-double in Syracuse’s overtime victory against Auburn, collecting 16 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. She followed that with a career-high eight blocks in Saturday’s road win at SMU helping the Orange to a 1-0 start in league play. This marks the first time an ACC freshman has recorded eight or more blocks in a game since Kamilla Cordoso in 2021.

She leads all ACC freshmen in scoring with 12.9 points per game this season. Izoje is ranked 6th nationally in blocks per game and 27th nationally in field goal percentage.
