Sunday proved to be quite the eventful day for Jack Flaherty, who started his day with a dominant performance for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Cleveland Guardians.
Despite the record heat at Dodger Stadium, Flaherty turned in his best start with the Dodgers, tossing 7.1 shutout innings, giving up just four hits with no walks.
His strikeout total was down to just six, but he was efficient all game, getting into the seventh inning for the first time with the Dodgers and sixth time this season before he made it into the eighth.
After picking up the win at Dodger Stadium, Flaherty made a trip to Crypto.com Arena to catch a Los Angeles Sparks game as they faced the Connecticut Sun.

As part of the trip to the Crypt, Flaherty met up with Sparks’ star rookie Cameron Brink, who has become one of the most famous players in the WNBA.
Flaherty and Brink exchanged jerseys and posed for photos together prior to the game.
Both are newcomers to teams in L.A. this year, but neither are unfamiliar with California. Flaherty was acquired at the trade deadline from the Detroit Tigers but growing up in the San Fernando Valley.
Brink was drafted second overall by the Sparks in the 2024 WNBA Draft out of Stanford.
The Sparks went on to lose 79-67 to the Suns, failing to play competitive basketball in the fourth quarter when they were on the wrong side of a 24-9 run.
Brink did not play in the game as she is recovering from a torn ACL that she suffered on June 18, 2024 in a 79-70 loss, which also came against the Sun.
Brink also attended a Dodgers game earlier this season and threw out the ceremonial fist pitch.
Los Angeles Sparks having rough season
Overall, the Sparks are just 7-28 this season, placing them last in the 12-team WNBA. They have gone just 1-9 in their previous 10 games and they are currently on a four-game losing streak.
Five of their wins have come at home, where they have gone 5-12 compared to 2-16 on the road.
The Suns are third with a 25-10 record.
