Regardless of who you are or where you come from, a showdown between Steph Curry and LeBron James on Christmas Day united every basketball fan.
Subsequently, Curry and James Harden discussed the limited time left for all the veteran players during their match in the days following.
Harden openly shared his thoughts on witnessing two of the game’s top and unfortunately aging superstars compete on Christmas Day.
“Me and Steph were just discussing that after the game. We both have a love for the game. Father time always wins,” Harden stated, as reported by Sports Illustrated. “It’s a reality, especially for players like us, and I believe LeBron feels the same way. We have a passion for playing basketball, which has been our focus our entire lives. And we are exceptionally skilled at it.”
Harded continued, “So it becomes challenging, especially with the little nagging injuries that seem to arise as you get older. When you’re younger, you may not experience these issues. But as you age, you start to feel things like, ‘Hmm, my knee hurts a bit.’ It’s strange, but it’s a natural part of life.”
Harden concluded with a poignant remark.
“We will keep pushing through and enjoying the journey. I hope the fans and basketball enthusiasts can appreciate and cherish these moments because once players like us exit the scene, such moments will be gone forever,” Harden expressed. “But we have a deep love for the game and we hope you do too.”
Steph and LeBron undoubtedly made Christmas Day memorable for Adam Silver, as it marked the most-watched Christmas and regular season NBA game in five years, with an audience of 7.76 million viewers – a staggering 499 percent increase from the previous year’s primetime broadcast.
