The Jets chose their 2024 captains on Tuesday, with three players retaining their title from the previous year and one new veteran joining the group.
Aaron Rodgers and C.J. Mosley, who were captains in 2023, were reelected for the 2024 season.
They will be joined by Quinnen Williams and Thomas Morstead, bringing the total number of captains to four, one more than last season when Justin Hardee led the special teams unit.
Williams replaced Rodgers last season after his injury.
Rodgers and Mosley bring experience to their role, with Rodgers previously serving as a captain for the Packers 12 times.
Mosley has been a Jets captain five times, missing only the 2020 season due to pandemic concerns.
The Jets are looking to Rodgers to lead and elevate the team in multiple aspects.
Offensive tackle Morgan Moses praised Rodgers for his leadership and ability to increase the team’s understanding of plays and strategies.
Morstead, entering his 16th season and third with the Jets, was a captain for the Saints in 2014 and 2015.
Niners tackle Trent Williams returned to practice after his holdout, while Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk also practiced after injuries.
Haason Reddick’s holdout continued with no new developments, and coach Robert Saleh mentioned no communication with Reddick.
The Jets had a light practice referred to as a “bonus Monday” by Saleh. They will have a day off before resuming full practice on Thursday.
Veteran tackle Tyron Smith may have limited practice, as Saleh emphasized being cautious with his workload.
