Josh Henderson from Westerville Central (OH) has made a commitment to Akron, becoming the first recruit for Head Coach John Groce and the Zips Coaching staff.
Josh spoke with Ballislife about his decision to choose Akron over Miami Ohio and Ohio University.
“I visited Akron unofficially and immediately felt a strong connection,” Henderson said. “The coaching staff made me feel like part of a family, and I believe I can thrive there. Coach Groce has shown great interest in me, attending every one of my games during the live period. He made it clear that I was his top recruit, which is why I decided to commit just a week after my visit.”
Henderson also discussed his visit in more detail, emphasizing his admiration for the player development program at Akron.
“We had extensive discussions about player development and how they can help me improve year after year. They analyzed my AAU shot charts, shooting percentages, strengths, and areas for improvement. It was a comprehensive breakdown of my game and how I can progress.”
The 6-foot-5 senior shooting guard still has a full year of high school before heading to Akron, and he revealed the aspects of his game he plans to work on before joining the team.
