LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s tennis sophomore Julia Zhu has been ranked No. 56 following impressive singles play in the fall match slate, the ITA announced.
A native of Berlin, Germany, Zhu completed the fall with a record of 9-3 for a 75% overall win percentage for 10.12 points.
Zhu’s fall success began with a victory over Southeastern Conference opponent Hayden Mulberry of Georgia in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Following one loss to Gabia Paskauskas (NC State), 2-6, 1-6, Zhu went on a strong run accumulating seven consecutive wins. These victories included, but were not limited to, opponents from Texas Tech, Virginia, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
The sophomore’s final victory of the fall match slate was over Georgia Tech’s Kate Sharabura, 3-6, 7(7)-6(3), 6-2.
