Kamilla Cardoso has backed the Las Vegas Aces for the 2025 WNBA title. The Chicago Sky center said she believes A’ja Wilson and her team have what it takes to lift the championship trophy again. Cardoso, who finished her first professional season this year, pointed to Wilson’s leadership and consistency as the main reasons she is confident about the Aces.

Cardoso Backing Las Vegas Aces Because of Wilson

Wilson has been one of the WNBA’s best players for several seasons. She has won multiple MVP awards and continues to be the centerpiece of the Aces’ success. The 29-year-old carried the team through tough stretches with her scoring, rebounding, and defensive presence in 2024 and also helped the Aces secure a spot in the playoffs this year.

Cardoso has revealed that she’ll be rooting for the Aces to win the WNBA title this year. The 24-year-old believes the Las Vegas Aces will be the eventual champions, but she’s backing them, especially because of A’ja Wilson. Cardoso described Wilson as someone who works hard, stays consistent, and never loses focus, even in difficult moments.

The Chicago Sky rookie’s prediction adds credence to the notion that the Aces are still the team to beat. The Las Vegas Aces have been the most successful WNBA team in recent years. With Wilson leading the way, the Aces won 17 straight games before the Seattle Storm erased a double-digit deficit and beat them 86-83 in Game 2 on Tuesday night, forcing a decisive Game 3 in the first round of the playoffs.

Aces Still Have Edge In Game 3 Battle

Cardoso has already made a notable impression despite just starting her WNBA career. She captured a national championship under coach Dawn Staley at South Carolina, and the Chicago Sky drafted her 3rd overall in 2024. She has shown flashes of her brilliance in her rookie year with the Sky.

Despite the Sky and the Aces being rivals on the court, there is a level of respect that goes beyond competition. Cardoso backing Wilson’s team for the title is proof of that. She noted that while she will always fight for her own team to win, she also recognizes greatness when she sees it.

After the Aces’ shocking defeat to the Storm, the series will shift back to Vegas for Game 3. Despite the setback, the Aces are still expected to go through and are one of the favorites for the WNBA title. However, the Aces will know the Storm are no pushovers after Seattle defeated them to win their first playoff game since Aug. 28, 2022, which ironically was also against Las Vegas. The Storm also ended a six-game playoff losing streak against the Aces and a four-game playoff losing streak while facing elimination.

The winner of Game 3 will move on to play the winner of the series between the Atlanta Dream and the Indiana Fever, after the Fever forced a Game 3 of their own at home earlier on Tuesday. The semifinal series will be a best-of-five format.
