Kelsey Plum is choosing to change her plans concerning her involvement in the new Unrivaled League.
The Las Vegas Ace star had been selected by the Laces on Oct. 20 but later decided not to participate in the 3×3 league founded by Breanna Stewart of the Liberty and Napheesa Collier of the Lynx.
Plum explained her decision on Wednesday in a social media post, stating, “I’ve decided not to take part in the inaugural season of Unrivaled in order to take some more time for myself this offseason.”
Plum was among many high-profile WNBA players, like Brittney Griner, Angel Reese, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, and Breanna Stewart, scheduled to participate in the league starting in January 2025 in Miami with an anticipated $250,000 average salary.
Other players declining the invitation to the league include Caitlin Clark, Sabrina Ionescu, and A’ja Wilson among others.
Despite initially planning to play in the league, Plum changed her mind and will now focus on resting and preparing for the upcoming WNBA season. She had been set to play alongside Courtney Williams, Kayla McBride, Kate Martin, Alyssa Thomas, and Stephanie Dolson.
The three-time WNBA All-Star, who has won two championships with the Aces, is coming off a strong season with impressive statistics.
Plum’s main focus now will be to recover and prepare for the following season in hopes of reclaiming the WNBA crown after falling to the Liberty in the semifinals.
