The eyes of WNBA fans are on Kelsey Plum this offseason as her name has come up in various trade talks. Amid the speculations on her next destination in the league, the 30-year-old guard appears to be having a blast in her personal life.
On Saturday, Plum went on Instagram to post a series of images and clips. One of these clips shows her rocking all-black leather pants as she walks through a parking lot, not unlike a model on a runway. The caption for this Instagram post was simple:
“Lil variety”
Other images and clips in this post include a selfie of Plum taking a dip in a swimming pool, as well as a brief demonstration to help a dog learn how to use a pet door.
Compared to these lighthearted scenes, Plum’s offseason has been surrounded by noise since her Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon hinted at roster moves after their playoff run.
“It’s not going to be the same group probably next year, it just won’t,” Hammon said after the Aces’ second-round exit in October 2024. “And I’m sad about that because I really liked that group. They were a pain in my a**, but I was a pain in their a** too. I like that group. I love that group.”
While Hammon certainly wouldn’t name names in that post-game interview, speculations about Plum’s Las Vegas exit popped up in the WNBA community. These speculations grew louder when, earlier this month, WNBA insider Annie Costabile reported that Plum could be headed to the Seattle Storm.
Moving to Seattle would actually be a homecoming of sorts for Plum, whose no. 10 jersey was recently retired by the University of Washington. It remains to be seen, however, whether she’ll actually be donning a Storm jersey when the 2025 season tips off.
Report: Kelsey Plum could be involved in a blockbuster trade
On Saturday, Annie Costabile wrote about a trade that could potentially have a domino effect on the rest of the WNBA. The Chicago Sun-Times reporter tweeted:
“According to multiple league sources, a proposed three-team trade that would send Jewell Loyd to the Aces, Kelsey Plum to the Sparks and assets to the Storm is the first domino that needs to fall in free agency.”
Should this trade go through, Kelsey Plum would begin a new chapter in her career by bringing her championship resume to a Western Conference team that languished at the bottom of the standings last season.
