Kenyan motor sport professional and graduate of the FIA High Performance Programme, Tuta Mionki, had the invaluable opportunity in 2024 to immerse herself in stewarding at the highest level, gaining experience in both the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and the FIA World Rally Championship.
Mionki’s motor sport journey began in Kenya, the home of the Safari Rally, an iconic event in the FIA World Rally Championship. She started as a rally co-driver in 2011 and transitioned to stewarding during the COVID-19 pandemic to remain involved in the sport. Her background in human resources and labor laws made her feel connected to the role of a steward, seeing it as a judge-like position.
Completing regional and international steward training, Mionki joined the FIA High Performance Programme in 2023. She had her first Formula 1 experience in Imola and later at the Spanish Grand Prix, gaining insights into decision-making processes and stewarding operations. Her expertise now extends to the FIA World Rally Championship as well.
Mionki praises the FIA High Performance Programme for its transformative impact, providing practical experiences that enhance understanding and decision-making skills. She expresses her gratitude for the opportunity and looks forward to contributing as a Formula 1 and WRC steward in the future.
The FIA HPP includes participants from various FIA Member Clubs and regions, with a focus on practical learning and development. The program aims to prepare stewards and race directors for roles at the highest level of motor sport competition.
