Los Angeles Dodgers utilityman Kiké Hernández is currently a free agent. This means there is a possibility that the beloved player may not be returning next season. Regardless of whether Hernández stays with the Dodgers in 2025 or moves on to a new team, he is thankful for the support of the Los Angeles fanbase, who have embraced him during his time with the organization.
Speaking via The Shop, Hernández expressed his gratitude towards the fans, saying, “From the moment I arrived in L.A., the fanbase has shown me incredible love and support. I am truly humbled by the way they have embraced me. They believe in me and show me so much love that I feel like the best player on the field every time I step out there.”
Despite not being a regular starter, Hernández has won over fans with his enthusiasm in the clubhouse and standout performances in the postseason.
He added, “I am extremely grateful for all the support from the fans. I am constantly amazed by their love and appreciation. I have always struggled to find a way to repay them for their kindness. However, this year, I felt like the best way to show my gratitude was to perform well in the postseason and help the team win. I feel like I was able to do just that.”
While Hernández’s regular season numbers may be average, he consistently elevates his game come playoff time. Throughout his career, he has maintained a stellar batting average of .278 in the postseason, with 64 hits, 15 home runs, 35 RBIs, and 37 runs scored.
Just to illustrate his impact, Hernández now has more postseason home runs than baseball legends like Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera, and Chipper Jones, after hitting a solo homer in Game 5 of the National League Division Series.
