Barbora Krejcikova made history at Wimbledon 2024 by reaching the singles quarterfinals for the first time in her career, a significant milestone in her tennis journey. This achievement also cements her status as one of the few players to reach the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles at all four Grand Slam tournaments.
By defeating American Danielle Collins 7-5 6-3 in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2024, Krejcikova surpassed her previous best at the grass-court major, which was reaching the round of 16 in 2021. This 2021 Wimbledon run came after Krejcikova had won her first Grand Slam singles title at Roland Garros and her third women’s doubles title at a major tournament.
Next up for Krejcikova in London is a match against Jelena Ostapenko, another Roland Garros champion who has also reached the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles at all Grand Slam events. Ostapenko notably made the Wimbledon semifinals in 2018. In their head-to-head encounters, Ostapenko leads Krejcikova 5-2, having won their last three meetings, including a grass-court final at Birmingham in 2023.
