Barbora Krejcikova emerged victorious in the Wimbledon final after a challenging match against Jasmine Paolini, winning 6-2 2-6 6-4 and adding another Grand Slam title to her impressive collection, bringing her total count to 12 in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.
The No.31 seed Krejcikova dominated the first set with exceptional serving and net play, maintaining a 90% first-serve percentage and winning 84% of her first-serve points, along with a flawless record at the net. In just 36 minutes, the experienced Czech player secured the first set 6-2, showcasing her expertise on major stages after previous wins at Roland Garros and in doubles.
However, Paolini fought back in the second set, taking a commanding 4-1 lead and eventually forcing a decider after winning the set on her first point after 37 minutes.
The third set remained close until Krejcikova broke ahead at 4-3, seizing the opportunity after Paolini’s double fault. The Czech player held her serve with precision, ultimately claiming victory on her third championship point with a well-placed service winner, earning her first Wimbledon singles title.
Prior to her win against Paolini, Krejcikova defeated several opponents including Veronika Kudermetova, Katie Volynets, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, Danielle Collins, Jelena Ostapenko, and Elena Rybakina on her path to the final.
With Krejcikova’s win, Wimbledon celebrates its eighth different women’s singles champion in the last eight years, and the Czech Republic sees another consecutive victory at SW19 following Marketa Vondrousova’s win in the previous year.
