NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the fourth time this season, the Lee University women’s soccer team played to a draw with an opponent. On Friday night it was a 1-1 tie with Trevecca Nazarene University. For the Trojans it was the first time that they have had a result with the Lady Flames as Lee had won the first eight matches in the series. Lee had to battle back from a deficit to earn the draw.
The Lady Flames came out of the gate with multiple shots. Lee forced the Trevecca goalkeeper into to three early saves. Lee continued to put pressure, but it was the Trojans who struck first. In the 28th minute, Katelyn Keough and Maria Rocha used to quick passes to get Anny Mitra open in the box and she shot it into the corner of the net to give the Trojans the lead.
Early in the second half the Lady Flames had a golden opportunity to get an equalizer when Addie Chapman dribbled around the keeper and took a shot. However, a Trevecca defender cleared the ball of the line at the last possible moment to keep the lead at 1-0 in favor of TNU.
Then in 56th minute, the Lady Flames broke through. Off of a corner from Katie Wilson, Jordan Blair found the bouncing ball a tapped it past everyone to get the goal. It was the second goal of the season for Blair. Over the next 30 minutes Lee had a few more chances but could not get another goal.
Anna Wyatt had nine saves for Trevecca in the contest to help earn the draw. Lee doubled the amount of shots TNU had at 20-10. Lee also had eight corner kicks to Trevecca’s one. Chapman led the way for the Lady Flames with six shots and four on frame. Kassidy Kellett added four shots with three on goal
The Lady Flames will stay on the road with a crucial road contest with the University of Montevallo on Wednesday, October 16.

“We dominated the game. Created enough clear-cut chances to win the game! We have three training sessions before our next match and the job is to keep improving at the rate we have these past couple of weeks.”
