Due to injuries plaguing the Los Angeles Dodgers, rookie right-hander Landon Knack has stepped up to fill in for veteran pitchers in the starting rotation.
In a game against the Cleveland Guardians on Friday night, Knack impressed by recording eight strikeouts over six innings, allowing only three hits and one walk.
Manager Roberts praised Knack’s performance, stating, “I just felt that he was pitching really well. Landon was a star tonight. He did everything we hoped for and more. He’s done it all year for us… I’m looking forward to him making his next start.”
Despite giving up a two-run homer, Knack displayed skill and composure on the mound, especially as a rookie facing a tough opponent like the Guardians.
Knack reflected on his performance, saying, “It gives you a lot of confidence to go out there and see how your stuff plays against some of the best teams… The way that I’ve been able to come out here and make pitches against these guys makes me know I belong.”
While his performance fell short compared to the Guardians’ pitcher, Knack’s consistency in recent games suggests he will continue to be a key starter for the Dodgers in the remaining weeks of the regular season.
Knack emphasized the importance of staying focused and making the most of each opportunity he gets with the team.
