This offseason, the Las Vegas Aces have made some big moves to continue to build a championship caliber team ahead of the 2025 WNBA season.
Head coach Becky Hammon has been at the helm since 2021 and was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame not only for her contributions to the game of basketball as a coach but also as a player.
Hammon’s name has recently been floated a short list of possible coaches to take over at the head coach position of the San Antonio Spurs and legendary coach Gregg Popovich’s health has continued to decline in recent months.
In the meantime, Hammon has taken the time to fine tune the Aces this offseason. It is being reported that the Aces signed forward Jordyn Jenkins from the University of Texas at San Antonio to a training camp contract.
In January, Jenkins made an unforgettable impression on Hammon as UTSA defeated Wichita State 69-51. In the win, Jenkins scored 21 points.
Jenkins joins Deja Kelly, who signed a rookie-scale contract on Friday.
In the 2025 WNBA Draft, the Aces signed Aaliyah Nye of the University of Alabama at no. 13 and Harmoni Turner of Harvard at no. 35 overall.
The Aces did not have a first-round pick in this draft due to league rules violations regarding impermissible player benefits and workplace policies.
Hammon is a two-time WNBA champion as head coach. She was also a six-time WNBA All-Star and twice a member of the All-WNBA First Team. Under her tenure, the Aces won two straight WNBA titles in 2022 and 2023.
