LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Las Vegas Aces standout Kelsey Plum has announced that she will not be participating in the new 3-on-3 women’s league, Unrivaled. She mentioned that she wants to take more time for herself in the offseason.
Plum shared her decision on social media this week. The Unrivaled league, co-founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is set to begin its season on Jan. 17 and will run into March, with all games taking place in Miami.
Plum was named to the roster of the Laces, one of the league’s six teams. The expected players on her team include Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams of the Minnesota Lynx, Alyssa Thomas of the Connecticut Sun, and Stephanie Dolson of the Washington Mystics.
Plum expressed gratitude to the league for understanding her decision.
“I wish the league and all of the players nothing but the best and I’m excited to watch!” Plum stated in her post.
WNBA rookie of the year Caitlin Clark from Indiana also decided not to participate in the league.
Plum, who is 30 years old, played in 44 WNBA games this season, including playoffs, and was part of Team USA, which won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris this past summer.
Plum also earned her third consecutive selection to the WNBA all-star game.
