Parsons was sent to the Packers for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks in the 2026 and 2027 NFL drafts. For Parsons, this represents a fresh start to an already stellar career that includes three All-Pro selections.
When discussing the trade, Parsons clarified that he did not have any say in which team the Cowboys sent him to. Jon Machota, who covers the Cowboys for The Athletic, posted on X an image of Parsons at his opening press conference.

Packers reporter Weston Hodkiewicz added additional comments from Parsons. “I think physically, I’m great,” Parsons said. “I can contribute a lot. We already talked about how we can ramp things up. They didn’t give up what they gave up for me to sit on the sidelines. … I’m gonna give it my all.”
Beyond the health questions, Parsons revealed something that caught everyone by surprise: Being at Green Bay feels like being at Penn State, where Parsons played in college. He added, “It feels like home.”

His trade to Green Bay ended a contentious contract dispute between Parsons and Dallas owner-general manager Jerry Jones. Jones held a press conference on Thursday night alongside his son, Cowboys executive vice president of player personnel Stephen Jones. At different moments, Jerry Jones referred to Parsons as “Michael” instead of his real first name, Micah.
What Type of Contract Did Parsons Get From Green Bay?
Parsons’ four-year contract with Green Bay is worth $188 million. He also gets $120 million guaranteed, making it the largest non-quarterback contract in NFL history.
Current Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant were beside themselves after hearing about the Parsons trade. Bryant’s responses ranged from “I’m lost right now” to “Jerry Jones…you gotta make sense to this s**t”.
Parsons, who will wear No. 1 instead of No. 11, plans on being ready to go when the Packers open their regular season at Lambeau Field against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Sept. 7.
