LeBron James has been chosen by his fellow United States Olympians to serve as the flagbearer for the Opening Ceremonies of the Paris Olympics. He is the first male basketball player to receive this prestigious honor.
Joining Sue Bird and Dawn Staley, James adds to the list of basketball players who have been selected for this role. This will be James’ fourth time competing in the Olympics for Team USA.
“Being selected as the flagbearer for the United States at this global event is an incredible honor, especially at a time when the world can come together,” James stated.
“For someone from Akron, this responsibility holds great significance not just for me, but for my family, the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians, and many others across the nation with big dreams. Sports have the ability to unite us all, and I am proud to be a part of this significant moment.”
