For the first time since 2004, LeBron James won’t start the NBA All-Star Game. The Lakers star’s incredible run of 21 straight All-Star starter selections finally stopped when the 2026 starters were announced.

James still has a chance to make the game as a reserve pick once coaches submit the final roster later this month.

This has been an unusual season for LeBron. After missing significant time early, he’s now averaging 22.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game. Those are strong numbers at age 41. Yet his limited games and changing All-Star landscape trimmed his edge in fan and media voting.
James still leads the Lakers even in this 23rd NBA season. He remains one of basketball’s most watched and discussed figures.
