Lerone Murphy will take on Movsar Evloev in the UFC London headliner and a surging Oktagon MMA star, with some localized ties to the former, has weighed in on that featherweight fight.
With the proximity piece of both men being surging fighters from the European scene and the inherent bias within that, when asked for his thoughts on the Movsar Evloev versus Lerone Murphy bout on March 21st, Denis Frimpong said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“I believe [Murphy] knocks him out. I think momentum is a hell of a thing. Lerone’s had momentum building all the way up to his last fight with Aaron Pico short notice, knocked him out with a spinning elbow in one of the KOs of the year. I believe he’s knocked out Evloev in sparring in the past if I’m not mistaken. There was a video floating around out there that was posted and I believe [Evloev] was knocked out in sparring.”
Lerone Murphy “will finish him or at least just clinic him”, per Frimpong
As he further expounded upon this reported sparring footage to add further dimension to the narrative component of Murphy vs. Evloev at UFC London, Frimpong continued [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“I don’t know where it was, in Thailand or where it was, but yeah. So, we’ll see on the night. But I do obviously, like you say, I have a bias. I believe Lerone will finish him or at least just clinic him, you know. Like it might go the distance, but it’ll just be a shut out.”
“But yeah, I think Lerone’s fight IQ is one of the best in the world. I’d put him up there with the likes of [Demetrious Johnson] and Jon Jones and stuff like that. Like in terms of fight IQ, it’s his biggest attribute. So yeah, I can see him just absolutely running through Movsar and then fighting [Alexander] Volkanovski for the belt like he deserves to.”
