Great stuff, as always.
When it comes to NaLyssa Smith, her one-on-one defense is truly lacking. She struggles to prevent opponents from driving past her. The big question is whether this is something that can be improved. It could be that she simply hasn’t put in the effort, or it could be a limitation in her abilities. If she can elevate her defense from abysmal to just below average, she would be a valuable asset. However, if not, she may not be viable for a team with championship aspirations.
As for draft picks, it’s hard to see the value in anything other than a lottery pick, and even then, luck plays a significant role. Typically, only a couple of prospects are considered relatively reliable in any given draft, and the players who emerge as great talents later on are often difficult to predict — otherwise, they would be selected earlier.
It’s a waiting game, much like in college basketball: you wait for players to prove themselves before pursuing them.
