LIAM DAVIES may be pursuing a world title fight, but he still holds an interest in a significant domestic bout.
The 28-year-old undefeated fighter will step back into the ring on November 2nd to face Shabaz Masoud, after their original match was postponed due to Davies’ injury.
Currently ranked in the top five by the IBF and WBC, Davies has his sights set on Japanese fighter Naoya Inoue who holds all four sanctioning body titles. Despite acknowledging that he would be the underdog in a match against Inoue, Davies is also considering a significant domestic super-bantamweight fight against stable-mate Dennis ‘The Menace’ McCann in 2025.
When questioned about a potential bout with the European champion, Davies responded, “Nah, I still believe that fight could happen.”
Prompting a question back to Boxing News, Davies asked, “Would you tune in?” The answer was affirmative.
“That’s the goal,” Davies emphasized. “To generate interest and viewership. I see it as a major fight. Hopefully, it will materialize in the future.
“If the offer comes, I’ll be prepared. I never ask for specifics, just the timing, and that’s all I need. Dennis is focused on his own path, and I wish him the best. Perhaps our paths will cross someday, but I’m uncertain of when that may be. If the opportunity arises, I’ll be ready.”
