Liam Harrison appears content with his decision to retire from Muay Thai.
The British legend retired after his tough battle against Seksan Or Kwanmuang at ONE 168: Denver last Friday, September 6.
“The Hitman” did not envision his departure unfolding as it did. In a 140-pound catchweight Muay Thai competition, he experienced a devastating TKO defeat at the hands of the Thai fighter.
In front of a full Ball Arena audience, he laid down his gloves at the center of the Circle, a poignant gesture marking the end of his career.
Harrison has always been a fierce competitor, motivated by a relentless desire to excel at the highest level.
However, while his spirit remained strong, he recognized that his body could no longer keep up with the demands of the sport.
“It’s just that my body is letting me down, I’m getting injured, I’m being knocked down by punches that wouldn’t have fazed me before. It’s devastating, but it’s just Father Time,” he shared with the media at the post-event press conference.
Despite the bittersweet nature of his final fight, Harrison expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to end his career in the spotlight.
“It is what it is. I’m so grateful that I had the chance. Even though I didn’t come out victorious tonight, I’m thankful for the opportunity to have incredible fights. Even though I didn’t win, what I still possess is the passion in my heart,” he remarked.
