NEW YORK — Breanna Stewart and her New York Liberty teammates remain optimistic despite their Game 1 loss to Minnesota in the WNBA Finals.
Stewart admitted to reviewing the missed free throw that could have secured the win for New York, but ultimately concluded that sometimes shots just don’t go in.
“I’m moving forward because this is a series and my team needs me,” she said.
The team, including Stewart, is gearing up for Game 2 against the Lynx on Sunday and emphasizing the importance of a short-term memory to bounce back from their previous loss.
Stewart shared that she received messages from friends and former teammates, all encouraging her to bounce back from the defeat.
Guard Sabrina Ionescu reassured fans that there is no panic within the team and they are focused on improving and putting up a better performance in the upcoming games.
As for the Lynx, they understand the need to step up their game in Game 2 before the series moves to Minnesota for Game 3.
Despite their win in Game 1, Minnesota knows they must elevate their play to stay ahead in the series against a determined New York team.
