Libs Abroad December 2024 Recap

Coming off the New York Liberty’s 2024 WNBA Championship, several members of the organization took their talents overseas to compete internationally. Additionally, several team members signed with clubs in late 2024 and will compete for their respective teams beginning this month.
Let’s get you caught up on all the overseas action thus far, as well as what to look forward to throughout January:
UNRIVALED
This January marks the launch of Unrivaled, a 3v3 league co-founded by Liberty forward Breanna Stewart. The Liberty will be represented by three players across two different clubs including Stewart (Mist BC), Courtney Vandersloot (Mist BC), and Sabrina Ionescu (Phantom BC). The league’s tip-off is slated for Friday, January 17 at 7 pm ET on TNT with Mist BC taking on the Lunar Owls.
CHINA
Marquesha Davis, the Liberty’s 2024 First Round draftee, has maximized her extended minutes thus far with Shandong (10-8) in the WCBA. Through 16 games, Davis has averaged 11.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, highlighted by two 20-point performances on November 30 and December 31.
This season, Han Xu returned to Sichuan Yuanda where she has led her longtime club to a perfect 18-0 start in pursuit of the team’s third consecutive WCBA title. In 17 contests, five of which she recorded double-doubles, Han has posted averages of 17.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on a combined 57.9% (113-195) from the field and 35.7% (10-28) from three.
TURKEY
Liberty guard/forward, Kennedy Burke, recently signed with Ormanspor in Turkey. In her debut appearance on December 29, Burke totaled nine points, three boards, one assist, and one steal in 31 minutes.
On December 20, Nyara Sabally signed with perennial Turkish powerhouse, Fenerbahçe, and has since reported to Istanbul with the team.
Fresh off her Olympic Silver medal campaign with France, Marine Fauthoux has been competing for Mersin in the KBSL and EuroLeague. Fauthoux, who the Liberty maintain player rights to entering 2025, has averaged a combined 9.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game on a shooting split of 41.3% from the field, 42.4% from three, and 88.8% from the free throw line.
Fauthoux is joined by fellow French guard Marine Johannès on the Mersin roster, however, Johannès is currently sidelined due to injury.
ITALY
Liberty guard, Ivana Dojkić, has seen action in nine total contests for Schio in Serie A1 and EuroLeague where she has amassed averages of 9.0 points, 2.4 boards, and 2.2 assists per contest. Dojkić recently recorded her top performance of the season on December 22 with 17 points and five assists on 50% (3-6) from deep in a 67-61 win over San Giovanni.
SPAIN
Coming off her historic rookie campaign in New York, Leonie Fiebich signed with perennial Spanish contender, Valencia BC, where she’ll compete in LF Endesa and EuroLeague. Fiebich is no stranger to the LF Endesa as she is the league’s reigning MVP after her 2023-24 standout campaign with Zaragoza.
